Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Arms In Delta
As the war against criminals continue to bite hard in Delta state, the state police command have arrested five suspected armed robbers and recovered arms and ammunition at Ovwian, in Udu local council area of Delta state.
In a statement by the state police public relations office Celestina Kalu, the suspects who were six in numbers were intercepted in a Golf car during a stop and search exercise, while a search on the car led to the escape of one of the suspect, with a second shot on the leg when he attempted to escape.
Items recovered from the suspects who were said to have been going for an operation include four cut-to-size guns and hundreds of live ammunition which were hidden in a sack.
The suspects according to the police spokesperson have confessed to the crime, and would soon be charged to court, while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing member of the six man gang.
The Delta police command have warned residents to be at alert at all times and be wary of strange faces in their environment.
