Ogodo emerges APC chairman

The former Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Delta state chapter, Cyril Ogodo has emerged as the state chairman of the party at a congress held at the Federal College of Education permanent site in Asaba, the state capital.

The Congress which was witnessed by a large turnout of party delegates across the twenty-five local government areas, was supervised by the Eugene Odoh led five-man committee with Ogodo scoring 731 votes to defeat Mr. Fred Obe who polled 99 votes.

Security presence at the venue of the Congress which commenced at 2 pm ensured that people were thoroughly screened, as unwanted guests were restricted from gaining access to the venue where the Congress took place successfully.

The leader of the party in Delta state, Otega Emerhor spoke on the transparent voting system employed for the Congress.

Two of the party governorship aspirants in the coming 2019 governorship election express hope over the party's preparedness to settle the issue of parallel congresses.

The new party chairman was applauded by his supporters as he promised to unite members of the party before the 2019 elections.

It will be recalled that a faction loyal to Senator Ovie Omo Agege on Saturday elected the incumbent chairman Mr. Jones Erue as its chairman in a separate congress, bringing the number to two elected chairmen by the All Progressives Congress in Delta state.
