I am not ‘Liar Mohammed,’ says Lai Mohammed
The Senate has confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s 43 ministerial nominees following the conclusion of the screening exercise which began Wednesday 24 July.
Galaxy’s Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the exercise was brought to a close at plenary with the screening of three of the remaining nominees, including immediate past information minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
In his presentation, the former information minister used the opportunity to clear the air on some widely held misconception about his person.
He said, "my name as it appears on the CV is Lai Mohammed, please, ' believe what they say on the social media. They call me all sort of names there.
"I used to ignore it until one day, my seven-year-old grandson called me, and said grandpa, tell me the truth, why do they call you Liar Mohammed?
"I look at him, what do you tell a 7-year-old son? How do you explain politics to him? So I said no, don't mind them, they are the bad guys
Following his submission, a cross-section of Senators highlighted why President Buhari had made the right decision by nominating him yet again.
The two ministerial nominees screened earlier are Engr. Saleh Mamman from Taraba State and Sabo Nanono from Kano.
