Ogun Police Nab Cultists over Death of 25-Year-Old
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended five members of a dreaded cult group who unleashed terror on residents of Ifo town in the early hour of Sunday.
Confirming the development to Galaxy TV News, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects, Afeez Olapade, Idowu Adebayo, Oduwaye Seyi, Fatai Olude and Alabi Segun were apprehended following a distress call received by the DPO Ifo division that the cult group were on a rampage around Ifo market attacking people with dangerous weapons and dispossessing innocent people of their valuables.
The PPRO said the DPO Ifo division CSP Adeniyi Adekunle who mobilised his men and moved to the scene met a 25-year-old man who was later identified simply as Sunday in the pool of his own blood as a result of several machete injuries on his body.
He added that the policemen Chased and got the five suspects arrested within the area. The victim was taken to the general hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
He directed that the fleeing members of gang must be hunted for and brought to book within the shortest possible time.
