2015 Elections: Ajimobi Addresses Churches On Their Responsibility
Ahead of the 2015 general elections, religious bodies in Oyo state have been charged to play their role as agents of socialization by educating their followers on various programs of government and how to be good citizens of the society.
The governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi gave the charge when he addressed a congregation of Christians from across the 33 local government area of the state in Ibadan.
Governor Ajimobi said aside soul winning; the various religious bodies in the country must help in sensitizing the people on their responsibility as citizens in ensuring an enduring state and democracy in Nigeria particularly with the coming on stream of the political period ahead of the 2015 elections.
Addressing the large gathering of Christians gathered at the state government secretariat, Agodi Ibadan, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state declared that it is high time religious bodies began to participate in the renewal and transformation program of government in the state. Governor Ajimobi said churches as a place of gathering of people must be active in propagating the various activities of the government to their members for them to see themselves as part of the process of governance in the state.
He also charged them not to involve themselves in violent intents in the process of canvassing for the candidates of their choice declaring that the state is no more a habitation of violence.
