Oyo has 649,183 uncollected PVCs- INEC reveals
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that a total number of 649,183 permanent voter cards are yet to be collected by registered voters in Oyo state.
The commission revealed that an additional 13 thousand voters had been registered ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The resident electoral commissioner in Oyo state, Mutiu Agboke who made the disclosure during an advocacy visit to the state high court, solicited the support of the judicial arm of government for the success of the coming poll.
Mutiu Agboke, who was received by the chief judge of Oyo state, Justice Munta Abimbola, stated that the commission had initiated some action plans which would guarantee the sanctity of the exercise.
In his response, the chief judge of Oyo state, Justice Munta Abimbola assured the resident electoral commissioner and his team of the support of the judiciary, stressing that the two arms of government must work hand in hand for the sustenance of democratic institution in Nigeria.
Other judges who spoke during the visit, charged the electoral body to remain neutral and create a level playing ground for all parties ahead of the general elections.
