Wike promise to protect the interest of Rivers people
Governor Nyesom Wike has assured the people of Rivers state on his readiness to protect their interest in the discharge of his duties.
The Governor gave the assurance at the Government House in Port Harcourt during a media chat with newsmen on the recent media war between him and the Bayelsa state Governor.
Addressing journalists, Governor Wike said that since judgement has been given by the court ceding the Soku oil wells to Rivers state, the Bayelsa State Governor still has an option to appeal rather than saying he is causing disharmony in Ijaw land.
He denied the allegation by the Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson of planning to dethrone an Ijaw traditional ruler during his unannounced visit to the state.
The media war between the Rivers and Bayelsa state Governor started during the PDP rally in Yenagoa when Governor Wike failed to show up at the campaign rally, as this did not go down well with Governor Dickson who was mobilizing for his adopted candidate Mr Douye Diri before the court judgment worsen matters.
