The University of Ibadan has graduated 7,430 students with 241 of them making first-class honours from various degree programmes and faculties in its 2017/2018 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Idowu Olayinka while speaking during the 71st foundation day and convocation ceremonies at the International Conference Centre of the school, commended the graduands for the feat achieved in the respective course of study.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that in the breakdown released by the institution, Faculty of Science has the highest number of First Class put at 46 followed by the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry with 38 and the Faculty of Technology with 27.

While urging them to regard the university as a springboard as well as a call to greater challenges and aspirations in life, the Vice-Chancellor tasked the graduands to prepare for future challenges adding that they should continue to see themselves as worthy ambassadors of the institution.

He added that in the course of the year, the senate of the institution approved the establishment of some faculties with the aim of improving the status of the institution.

Ebhomielen Ofure Mary from the Department of Computer Science emerged as the best graduating student with 7.0 CGPA.
