Strangers Invade Ekiti Community, Plant Cannabis
Residents of Otunja Ekiti have appealed to security agents in the State to provide adequate security in the community.
This follows the discovery of cannabis plantation which was allegedly done by strangers without the permission of the community.
Strangers have allegedly invaded a portion of the forest reserves in Ekiti State cultivating cannabis.
This was disclosed by a monarch, Oba Adedeji Adelola Fagbamila in an exclusive interview with Galaxy news in his palace.
He said some farmers informed him of the presence of the strange visitors in his domain.
He said the strangers have already cleared about three kilometres of land before the palace was informed.
In his reaction, the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 11 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan said the matter has been discussed at the state's house of assembly and security agents have been mandated to find lasting peace in Ootunja Ekiti.
The state's commandant of Nigeria drug law enforcement agency said when his office was informed of the situation; he mobilized his men to the farm and destroyed the cannabis.
The cannabis plantation has already been destroyed, but residents are agitated about reprisal attacks which have prompted them to call on security agents to ensure peace in the community.
