Senate confirms Tanko Muhammad CJN
The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad has been confirmed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
His confirmation Wednesday follows his screening during plenary, an exercise that followed a closed door session.
This Wednesday’s exercise comes on the heels of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s request last week for his confirmation by the Senate as the substantive CJN after serving in active capacity since 25 January on the date he was sworn in to replace the then suspended Chief Justice, Walter Onnoghen.
Senate’s confirmation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad makes him the 16th Chief Justice since independence.
