The Delta police command says it has rescued a 27-yr-old businessman who was kidnapped along the Eku/Abraka highway while driving his Lexus SUV. 

The businessman who was identified as Jeffery was said to be driving to the University community of Abraka before the kidnappers came out of the bush after shooting sporadically into the air before their victim was whisked away. 

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Delta police spokesperson Edafe Bright, he said the victim was rescued after the Sapele police command engaged them in a shootout before the kidnappers took to their heel and the victim rescued. 

Items recovered from the car were a cut-to-size locally made pistol, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
