Police Arrest Popular Warri Bishop over Alleged Rape
The police in Warri have arrested a popular Warri bishop and General overseer of Victory Revival Fasting and Prayer ministry Bishop Elijah Orhonigbe for allegedly raping a 19-Year-old girl Miss Miracle Omalor under the guise of delivering her from a magical spell cast on her.
The bishop, who was arrested on Friday and kept in police custody by a special squad from the Warri Area Command was said to have been on the run for over two weeks after he allegedly committed the offence.
Speaking on the arrest at the police Area command, the assistant commissioner of police Mohammed Garba said the victim’s mother reported the case, while the victim and her mother spoke on the issue with the arrested bishop saying he only invited her for deliverance.
On their part, counsels to the victim and the Bishop spoke on their readiness to go to court as an executive of CDHR calls for justice, while the police assistant commissioner debunked the allegation of bribery.
Meanwhile, the case which was expected to be charged to court today was postponed till tomorrow as a result of the visit of the prisons Comptroller General where the assistant police commissioner is representing the state police commissioner Hafiz Inuwa who has also promised justice regarding the case.
