Lawyers under the auspices of Ayatutu Lawyers Forum have called on the security agencies to use only constitutional and legal means provided by law for the investigation, arrest and prosecution of killers of the twelve soldiers including a captain in Konshisha local government area of Benue State.
While the chairman of Ayatutu Lawyers Forum, expresses concerns over an earlier onslaught of the military against the communities in Konshisha and Gwer East local government areas, leading to the deaths of some civilians and bandits, he called on the Army and the State government to allow independent caregivers like Red Cross International and Doctors without borders and other humanitarian organization access into the area to verify the death toll and treat the wounded.
The chairman of the Forum, Terhemen Oscar Aorabee, Esq, made the call in Makurdi following the number of civilian properties so far destroyed who have no proven connection with any bandits and have become victims by the use of force of the Nigerian military.
While theĀ forum further condemned the attack and killing of soldiers, they calledĀ on the Federal and State government to make arrangement to avoid the escalation of the humanitarian disaster that is looming as a result of the displacement of the teeming population of women, children and the aged as well as mass destruction of foodstuff by the Army.
