KEDCO says no meters to end estimated billings
The Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO has said that there are not enough meters to assist in ending estimated billing of electricity consumers.
The Managing Director of KEDCO JAMILU GWAMNA whose franchise covers Kano, Jigawa and Kastina states said things must be taken into perspective before they are enforced.
GWAMNA called on the National Assembly not to mete out sanctions on defaulting Distribution Companies because metering also depends on meter providers and electricity consumer's cooperations.
The KEDCO MD was reacting to efforts of the National Assembly to prohibit and criminalize estimated billing by electricity distribution companies and provide for compulsory installation of pre-paid meters to all power consumers in the country.
