JTF flags off operation safety check 6
The Joint Task Force code-named Operation Delta Safe has flagged-off an operation to check all forms of criminality in the Niger Delta region tagged OPERATION SAFETY CHECK 6, which is geared towards protecting oil pipelines and installations across the Niger Delta.
The operation which was flagged off in the creeks of Alakiri, Okrika in Rivers State was led by the commander Operation Delta Safe Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade and other top military officers in line with the mandate of the Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin.
Fielding questions from newsmen after flagging off the operation, the JTF commander spoke on their preparedness in protecting oil installations.
He stressed on the devastating effect of illegal refineries as the sector 2 commander spoke on the mode of operations of oil thieves.
The commander also urged community residents to desist from illegal acts of pipeline vandalism as it affects the economy of the country, and collaborate with the JTF in reducing oil theft and all forms of criminality.
