More facts emerged on Tuesday on how a sum of $6,230,000 was released cash to a staff from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation without the provision of Bank verification Number.

The Continuation of Emefiele's trial was characterized by altercation between the Prosecution and Defense Counsels over some of the documents before the court.
Recall that a Senior Official of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Michael Onayeka Ogbu, yesterday explained why the Apex Bank released $6,230,000 for the payment ofnsome International Election Observers before the last General Elections.

Galaxy Tv News reports that at the continue trial of the former CBN Governor on Tuesday, the witness while being cross examined by the defense Counsel, Mattew Burka,.said the Sum of $6,230,000 was released to one Jibrin Abubakar, a staff from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Before this revelation, the Prosecution Counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, sought the leave of the Court to tendered some documents which the witness spoke to on Monday as evidence while the Defense Counsel, Matthew Burka, reserved his objection on the documents.
The Court subsequently admitted the documents and marked them PD 1 to PD 7 accordingly.

The witness during the cross examination revealed that the payment passed through Head Banking, Head Forex, Head Teller and then to thr teller before the final payment was made.

When asked on why the Bank Verification Number of Jibrin Abubakar was not checked before the payment, the witness disclosed that this was not stated in the instructions passed to him adding that, he acted in due diligence in the payment of $6,230,000 to Jubrin Muhammed.

Also, the witness identified the statement he made before the Investigation panel of the Central Bank on the payment while the Defense Counsel sought the leave of the court to tender same in evidence.

The Move was objected to by the Prosecution Counsel on the ground that it was an extra Judicial statement.
Ruling on the matter, the Presiding Judge, Justice James Omotosho, dismissed the objection and stand down the matter.
