Ekiti Denies Plan to Remove Monarchs
The Ekiti state government has denied reports that it is planning to remove some traditional rulers, describing the report as fake.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode.
The statement explains that the letter written to the traditional rulers is merely an administrative matter which is neither contentious nor confrontational adding that the step is definitely not a ploy or plan to remove any Oba from office.
He noted that the governor directed that the Bureau should write the affected traditional rulers to find out reasons for their absence saying the formal nature of the letter is what is being misconstrued to be a query.
Oyebode, however, called on members of the public to disregard such a report adding the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi would continue to promote the interest of the traditional leaders.
It will be recalled that a letter on Thursday surfaced online allegedly written by the state government to some First Class monarchs demanding reasons for their absence from monthly meetings of monarchs in the State.
