COVID-19: residents lament police extortion, hunger
Residents of Warri have continued to express displeasure over the difficult situation they find themselves in as a result of what they described as the daily extortion from the police and local vigilante groups manning checkpoints across the city.
This is coming as residents await the Delta state government palliatives after several promises to make it available to the people.
Speaking on the daily extortion and hunger, some residents call on the Okowa led administration to act fast, while a legal practitioner and rights activist confirm police extortion in the city.
When contacted, the Warri police area commander Mohammed Garba said residents and motorists should report anyone involved directly to the public complaint desk in his command for immediate action.
