Activist, Edo Residents Lament Increase in Crime Rate
A human rights activist and some residents of Edo state have lamented over the continuous increase in criminal activities in the state, particularly the state capital of Benin.
This is coming barely a week after ten kidnap suspects escaped from the custody of the Edo state police command.
Speaking on the alarming increase of crime in the state, an activist and some residents say they now leave in fear while investors are now afraid to come to the state.
When contacted, the Edo state police spokesperson Chidi Nwabuzor said he was out of town for an assignment, while the publicity secretary of the ruling PDP Mr Chris Nehikhare said the Governor is doing his best to curb the menace.
Meanwhile, two of the suspects who escaped from the Benin police headquarters have been rearrested according to the police spokesperson, while efforts are on to arrest the remaining eight.
