36 prisoners pass WAEC in Oyo
36 inmates of the maximum security prison in Abolongo area of Oyo the have excelled in the 2018 November/December edition of the National Examination Council of Nigeria.
The Controller of Prison in Oyo State, Tosin Akinrujomu who disclosed this in Oyo during the visit of the Chief Judge of the State and his team to the prison stated that other inmates have been exposed to various vocational training.
He disclosed that authorities of the Nigeria prison are presently discussing with the management of open universities in Nigeria with the aim of enrolling them for appropriate programs.
Akinrujomu revealed that virtually all the inmates obtained six credits in relevant subjects, a condition which according to him qualified them for tertiary education.
The Controller maintained that prison should be seen as reformation center as well as an avenue to enable the inmates develop their potentials.
He decried the increasing rate of congestion in the prison calling on relevant authorities to intervene.
