Breaking: tribunal upheld Ganduje's election
The governorship petition election tribunal sitting in Kano state under the chairmanship of Justice Halima Shamaki has upheld the victory of governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the duly elected governor of the state in the 2019 general elections.
The tribunal ruled that the burden of proof rest with the petitioners, that is the People's Democratic Party and its governorship candidate Abba Yusuf.
Galaxy correspondent, King Richard also reported that The tribunal ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission was right to have cancelled the March nine elections and ordered a rerun on March twenty third.
PDP, the petitioners had argued that INEC erred by cancelling elections at the state level instead of doing so at the polling units.
The counsel to the PDP and Abba Yusuf, Bashir Yusuf said they will appeal the judgment because they believed the tribunal did not understand the bases of their petition.
