Kidnapping: IGP deploys intelligence team to Oke Ogun
Following the incessant cases of kidnapping in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, especially around Ibarapa axis, the inspector general of police, Muhammed Adamu has deployed an intelligence unit to the area for the safety of the people.
Recall that five lecturers were recently kidnapped in Oyo while returning from a meeting in Saki by suspected Fulani herdsmen but were released after the payment of five million naira ransom.
Addressing stakeholders from the axis at a security meeting held at the headquarters of the Oyo state police command in Eleyele, Ibadan, the commissioner of police, Shina Olukolu expressed concern about happenings in the areas stressing that all hands must be on the deck.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the commissioner of police in the state called for the support and cooperation of residents of the area for the intelligence team for the success of their operation while the special adviser to Governor Seyi Maknide of security, Fatai Owoseni also stressed the need for synergy between the residents and security agencies.
They assured the people of the area of their safety while calling on criminal elements to have a rethink to leave the area.
