Arms Fund: Reps. Summon CBN, COAS over Purchase of Arms
The House of Representatives has summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru to appear before it to answer questions in relation to purchase of arms.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the House Ad-Hoc Committee on the need to review the purchase, use and control of arms, ammunition and related hardware by the military, paramilitary and other law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
The motion to summon the duo was moved by Rep. Bede Uchenna Eke.
The committee unanimously resolved to summon the COAS and CBN after the agencies refused to honour several invitations by the House.
It would be recalled that the committee had earlier adjourned indefinitely when the Chief of Army Staff failed to appear before the House in person.
