Joshua reveals rematch clause added to Wilder offer
Anthony Joshua has revealed a secret clause, which had been inserted into the offer made to Deontay Wilder.Joshua is hoping to set up a showdown with the American later this year to try and unify the entire heavyweight division.
Wilder has held the WBC title since 2015 but it is the only belt Joshua needs to complete his collection.Promoter Eddie Hearn met with the IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO title holder last week to discuss the deal to put to Wilder’s camp.
And the pair have decided that they want to fight the American in either Cardiff or London. However, Joshua has explained that he wants two bouts with Wilder and he was open the idea of a rematch in the USA.
Joshua has never fought oversees and prides himself on being a man of the people. But if he wants to grow his personal brand then he will one day have to fight away from the British shores.
The 28-year-old came through 12 rounds for the first time in his professional career last month when he beat Joseph Parker by unanimous points decision. But now he eyes a double clash with Wilder to prove he is one of the greatest boxers of all time.
Meanwhile, Mike Tyson has weighed into the heavyweight debate between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder– and he did not pull any punches.
Iron Mike was ringside as Jarrett Hurd and Erislandy Lara put their light-middleweight world titles on the line at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas last night.
And he was asked his opinion on the current state of play in the division he once ruled, taking a thinly-veiled shot at Joshua following his 12-round victory over Joseph Parker last weekend.
