Ekiti govt to empower entrepreneurs

No fewer than 2,000 unemployed persons are to be empowered with skills and start-up capital by Ekiti State government at its maiden entrepreneurship week starting Thursday this week.

The state Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief David Olusoga, who led others, including Commissioner for Information, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua disclosed this at a news conference in Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the move aimed at reducing the growing rate of unemployment in the state.

Olusoga said Governor Kayode Fayemi was deeply worried that many young men and women with the sound educational background are roaming the streets of Ekiti without anything to do.

He said it was the thinking of the governor that since the government could not singularly provide all the jobs, other areas of human capital development must be harnessed to bridge the gap.
