NCDC Certifies Oyo Isolation and Infectious Disease Centre
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control had certified the isolation and Infectious Disease Control Centre established by the Oyo State Government for the control of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Director-General of Centre, Dr Chikwe Ihekweaz who gave the commendation when he paid an assessment and tour of facilities visit to the state says the arrangement made by the government has been gratifying.
The Director-General explained that with the current effort of various states across the federation to combat the pandemic as well as the sense of collective responsibility, the country would rise above the global challenge.
While noting that there would always be rooms for improvement in the state, Dr. Ihekweazu said the infectious disease centre at Olodo would not only serve Oyo state but the nation at large and stand the test of time in combating future challenges of health concerns.
Earlier, the Director-General had paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House where Governor Seyi Makinde urged the agency to accredit more centres in the state for COVID-19 testing and confirmation in view of the state's population.
The NCDC team visited the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) at the state secretariat, the isolation centre and virology laboratory at the University College Hospital (UCH) and the Infectious Disease Centre at Olodo
