Delta Commissioner Deny Compromising With Demolition Exercise
In its resolve to absolve the Delta state government of any complicity in the demolition of illegal structures in the state, the state commissioner for environment Mr Frank Omare has reiterated that the government cannot compromise in the ongoing illegal structures demolition and road side trading.
He made the remarks in Warri while speaking as a guest at the correspondent chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in a forum tagged searchlight on state of the state.
Addressing journalists, the environment commissioner stated that government cannot compromise in his efforts to keep the state clean.
Speaking on the demolition exercise which affected hundreds of shops and houses, the commissioner stressed that he takes full responsibility for the exercise.
It will be recalled that the commissioner was accused of embarking on selective demolition by aggrieved residents whose only means of livelihood was destroyed during the demolition exercise.
